The Village

The Village, 2006

In 2006 I filmed key locations of Skoki, Poland - the train station, the bank, the shop, the church, the bus stop, the fruit stand, the school and the circus. The footage was then converted into printed video stills and is presented as chapters layered out on tables. Similar to a human CCTV, I also recorded by writing in situ what I observed and transformed the text into an accompanying sound piece with a news reading intonation. The final piece thus becomes a way of proving life from a document using perception in a purely descriptive way to create an impression of a scripted reality.
